Old Railway Quarter is a Joint Winner in the Excellence in Planning Delivery Category in the regional Royal Town Planning Institute’s (RTPI) SW Awards for Planning Excellence 2017.
The RTPI Awards are the most established and respected awards in the UK planning industry. Running for 40 years, they celebrate exceptional examples of planning and the contribution planners make to society. The National RTPI Awards for Planning Excellence 2017 Ceremony will place on 15 June 2017.
Old Railway Quarter is located at the heart of Swindon’s Railway Works Conservation area, and is a mixed-use development that has been created with the consideration, quality and architectural innovation normally associated with luxury schemes.
Hugh Thomas, Managing Director of Thomas Homes said: “By working very closely with Swindon Borough Council we have managed to regenerate this historic area that had previously been derelict for a number of years. We are all delighted with the results."
The RTPI champions the power of planning in creating prosperous places and vibrant communities. It is the only body in the UK that confers Chartered status to planners, the highest professional qualification sought after by employers. They support their members – 23,000 worldwide - throughout their careers.
The final phase of Old Railway Quarter is Olympus House, which is under construction with the first apartments due to be handed over to their new owners in June 2017. The apartments are proving popular with only a limited number remaining available for sale.
Apartments are priced from £155,000, and with the governments Help to Buy scheme qualifying purchasers would only need a 5% deposit of £7,750 to purchase their new dream home. The sales centre and show apartment is open Thursday to Monday 10am to 4pm telephone (01793) 497 974.
