Thomas Homes’ Fair Mile Hospital development recently played host to a fashionable visitor.  Central St Martin’s fashion design student, Emma Rose James, staged her final collection photo-shoot in the Grade II listed Fair Mile buildings before the redevelopment work took place.

Emma Rose, whose collection was recently featured in the prestigious Central St Martin’s press show in London, brought a team of models, hairdressers and a photographer to spend a day on site photographing her creations.

Emma said: ‘I was looking for a derelict building which had its own history – a story to tell. The maze of rooms provided limitless possibilities, particularly as many of the original furnishings are still intact. The rooms provided a sense of atmosphere – particularly the old wards with their original striped curtains and empty filing cabinets.’

She continued: ‘I was delighted that Thomas Homes was prepared to help me by providing such an evocative location for the photo shoot. We spent a day taking a range of shots in different locations in the main building and the site management couldn’t have been more helpful.’

‘My final collection includes a variety of luxury fabrics including silk, vicuna wool pieces and cashmere. After filming, the garments were then taken to London to be ‘catwalked’ in front of fashion luminaries including Royal Wedding dress designer, Sarah Burton. The Fair Mile photographs can now be seen at the Central St Martin’s exhibition in central London which runs from Friday June 17th until Thursday June 23rd. The exhibition is open from 12.00 noon to 8.00pm daily.

The Fair Mile Hospital redevelopment is currently under construction and a sales office and show house is due to be launched in September.  For further information visit
