Glorious sunshine formed the backdrop to a community cricket match this month as Thomas Homes, in partnership with Savills, took on the residents of Fair Mile, Cholsey in the grounds of the development.
Cholsey cricket club, who regularly use the grounds, lent a hand and made sure the competition ran smoothly selecting mixed teams as well as some youth players who now live at the scheme. Bowling for the 20 over game began at 5.30 in the evening.
Agents and developers won the toss to bat first making 104 runs, then the residents
team took their turn to bat achieving 99 runs. one of the highest scorers was Zoe White of Savills (26).
Andrew Chapman who runs the Cholsey Cricket Club and helped organise the game comments, “It was a great event and excellent to see so many young people showing an interest.”
The evening also provided an opportunity to unveil the latest sculptures by local artist Diccon Dadey that are now positioned around the cricket pitch. Thomas Homes provided a hog roast and refreshments for everyone who attended. Chris Brotherton of Thomas Homes comments, “I was delighted to see the facilities at Fair Mile being used and residents and staff enjoying themselves. The Great Hall will be opening on the site later this year, and we already have a series of events booked in to the new venue.”
